Salerno hotels near train station

We'll be travelling from Rome going towards Amalfi coast but arriving rather late into Salerno. Any recommendations of decent hotels or B&Bs within walking distance from the train station?
Otherwise, how long to get to Ravello?
Thanks so much. Your recommendations have been fantastic so far.

Hi Pati - To answer your second Q, Ravello takes about 1hr 15'-30, depending on traffic.

Buses don't run late, though ...

Hope this helps ...

Ira and Steve James, just the guys I was hoping to hear from as I love your guidance from the posts.
We will arrive at either 4:16 or 6:16pm in Salerno and I thought the latter might be too late to travel to Ravello. We could wait until morning.
By the way, is the bus ride along the Amalfi Coast really that wild that people get "car sick"? I tend to get seasick and airsick but, ironically, not car sick. Ira, I noted in your post that your DW got severe vertigo. I certainly don't want that to ruin a trip.

Actually you don't have a problem, Pati. The buses run later than I thought between Salerno and Amalfi/Ravello ...

When are you going? The present timetable, valid until June, is on:

http://www.sitabus.it/sitabus/campan...uadro-XV-2.pdf

You have departures from Salerno to Amalfi at:

16.30 - 17.00* - 17.30 - 18.30* - 19.30 ...

These are daily services except 17.00 and 18.30 - which do NOT run on Sundays.

You can find Amalfi-Ravello timetables on the same link.

The drive is twisty. If you don't get carsick you don't need to worry .

Sit on the left (- facing forward) for best views and ... enjoy!

Hope this helps ...

Hi P,

Very good info from SJ.

You can certainly make the 19:30 bus to Amalfi. At worst, you will cab to Ravello.

Re the AC Coast road: I don't think that the bus goes fast enough to get car sick.

My Lady Wife's vertigo came from looking down the cliffs.

Enjoy your visit.
