Saint Denis area
Will be in Paris in July for conference and Accomodations are close to the Carrefour Pleyel Metro stop. In the Saint Denise Area.
Does anyone know about the security around that area and how accessible is Central Paris via Metro.
Never been in Paris and would appreciate any help!

Saint Denis area is a working class neighborhood and it has a large etnic populations..
I never had any problems visiting Saint Denis Cathedral, which is ones my favourites landmarks in Paris.
Usually everytime that I go back to Paris, Saint Denis Cathedral is always a place that I must visit again ad again.
Cant really says that is not a secure place,I never had any problems being there..I shopped at the local supermarket and had lunch at the small cafe quite often.

It's St-Denis (not feminine Denise), and it's perfectly safe. I don't know what you mean by "security around that area"; it's not patrolled or anything. It's a working-class neighborhood is all, and a lovely one. There are many wonderul historical things to visit in the area. You can get into Paris in about 20 minutes.

We went to see the St. Denis Cathedral on two different occasions in March. Loved the cathedral. We personally would not have wanted to stay in the area because it is so far out from the major attractions of Paris. But we were there on a holiday and not on business. It did appear to be a working class area with many different ethnic cultures represented there.

I really enjoyed visiting central St Denis, also, around the cathedral and that museum in a former convent/abbey (can't recall its name). It has a metro stop right by the cathedral, it's very easy to get to central Paris.
Now where I got off was the Basilique St Denis metro stop, and the one you named is a couple stops before (but if it's right by a metro stop, that answer the question of how easy to get into Paris) -- and I really am not familiar with that area so can't comment on what it is like safety-wise. St Denis does have some crime problems, that isn't fictional, but I can't speak to your particular location.
