Ryanair online check in

I was just reading my Ryanair email confirmation of my flight and noticed that we need to print out our boarding passes in advance on A4 paper. I was planning on checking in from Canada before we leave. I am not sure I can get A4 paper. Are they really sticklers about this? I guess I could try to print out from our hotel in Germany.

You will pay about 40E/ person if you refuse to print your own boarding passes. Also, read every detail and suggestion they give you. Do not forget to, even though you hold boardng passes, to go to the Ryanair ticket office in the airport.. NOT the check in desk, to let them O.K. your passport and stamp your boarding pass to allow you on the plane if you do not hold EU passports.

I have seen many students in TEARS as they tried to board a flight and NOT MAKE it back in time as they forgot to read the small print, or it was in a language they didn't uderstand and they did not hold EU passports.

Also, they are SERIOUS when they say your purse/computer MUST fit inside your legal size/weight carry-on. If not.. another 30-40E at gate.

Just follow the rules and you will be fine.

lincasanova,

The problem is that A4 s not normal size here in North America. Thanks GaryCA, glad to hear 8 1/2 x 11 worked.

I used 8.5 x 11 paper also, and I second lincasanova's strong warning to go to the ticket desk to get a visa check and stamp on your boarding pass. At Stansted, it wasn't clear immediately where I was to go. Be sure to allow extra time just in case this step turns out a bit more difficult than you expect.

I can't see that it will be a problem. In my one experience of Ryanair, what they need is for their machines to be able to read the coded image/barcode thing that confirms the booking details. As long as that, and the printed out information in the relevant bit of the page, are correctly reproduced, I can't believe that the size of the surrounding paper (i.e., the margins) is likely to be an issue.

The "checking non EU passports" even on domestic flights, surprises me as to why no other airline requires you to do this.

Last week when I checked in at Stansted, the visa check was handled in the same line as the luggage drop. I found this out after I searched in vain for a separate line.

Maybe ( obviously) it depends on the country. In Spain it is at their ticket office.

Sorry.. just be aware everyone, and ask and get the stamp.

Gary and lincasanova, that's why I was confused at Stansted, because I had previously used the ticket desk in Madrid. So allow extra time regardless.

We went to a computer cafe in Paris to print our boarding passes. When you travel carrying a computer is ok, a printer is another matter. We read the fine print and found a cafe early in our stay that we could use when it was time. Downloaded to a zip drive, carried to cafe and loaded and printed. Paid about 2E for the whole process.

Thanks for all the advice. We are flying out of Memmingen. We will make sure to get the visa check. I am so glad you mentioned this since I missed it in my big hang up on A4 paper!
