I understand that you cannot mail in a application for a Russian Visa anymore.
I know that you can use a service for a fee or go in person to the Consulate.
Does anyone know if you can Fax the application instead of paying extra fees for a service if you do not live near the Russian Consulate?

I think you need to call the consulate and ask directly - it's the only way to be sure your info is correct (and, if possible, know what fax number to use).

we paid a courier through our agency ( 40 dollars to deliver our precious passports..supposedly takes 13 working days...lucky lucky number 13 haahaha)

an alternate way was to go sit and wait and wait and wait and then wait some more lol

they are very efficient in their emailing

i sent an email to hear some info from the horsesmouth and lo and behold i got a reply the next day
no wonder those russians got laika up to the moon

Just to let everyone know I used the Travisa service out of Washington DC and fedex overnight all info to them and they will submit all info to the Russian Embassy
1. fill out Travisa form on their web site then send
2 visa application
3. passport
4 passport photo
5. pay 131 consular fee + 50 sevice fee and fedex overnight fee which is I think 22.95 single entry tourist visa
Then 6- 10 days you will receive your visa
It is that easy and they even send you an email that they received your reply and then another email that all the info has been submitted fo the russian embassy.
Otherwise you have to go in person to the embassy

I just received my visa and it took 7days not bad at all.
Travisa a great company. I would definitely use them again.
