BTW, northie, I didn't mean to ignore your post about Aussie Rules - about which I know as much as you do about Rugby by the sound of it. Glad that you enjoyed a Day 31.
I have watched the odd match on TV, and so far as I can tell the most striking thing about it is that...there are no rules! [i suspect that's an old joke, but none the worse for that].

Looks to me like we're going to get Australia in the quarters #notcountingchickensreally.
It's been a wonderful tournament for quality rugby. Some real surprises in the games.

Question about "home team"? U.S. term, just means your local team or the team hosting the game. From very old song, "Take me out to the [base]ball Game"

Yes, I'm sure an Aussie Rules crowd would have fun singing that, judging by what they shout when the umpire signals a goal.

seems like the phrase is gaining something in translation!
anyway, back to the rugby. another great match this evening, especially if you're Rumanian! the Canadians were left out in the cold, so to speak, running out of steam in the last 15 minutes and losing 15 v 17.
in the night's second match, Uruguay scored twice [which was 200% more world cup tries than they had managed before] but were unable to over come Fiji in a somewhat bad-tempered match. They are brave, some of those Uruguayan players, taking on the man-mountains that play for Fiji.
2 unexpectedly good matches - a just reward for the 30,000+ spectators that pruned up for each match. and in pouring rain too.
