Rue de Buci or St. Andre des Arts apartment?
I have been looking for an aparmtent for 4 or 5 nights in June for my husband and I. Our daughter and her cousin will spend about 3 nights with us also. I am very happy to find the apartment rental agency Iloveparis.com. (I hope it is a good one!) We are trying to decide between the Rue de Buci apartment and the Rue St. Andre des Arts. We have been to Paris several times but it will be our neice's first visit so we want a central location in a fun neighborhood. Has anyone stayed in either of these or can offer a preference? Thanks so much as I know Paris apartment questions are endless!

The streets are in the same neighborhood; make your decision based upon what each apt. has to offer and how that suits your needs. It is a very lively area and close to so much of what you will probably want to see and show your niece.
Have fun!

Agree with grandmere.
I love the area and I don't think you can go wrong.
I will say that my new favorite place in Paris is right off rue St Andre des Arts! Un Dimanche a Paris has the most beautiful pastries and my favorite macarons (the strawberry and the ginger/citrus are both heavenly. The also have a tea salon and restaurant. It is a modern/sleek looking place that is gorgeous.
The clerk that waited on us was so kind to us. And I wish I had bought more while we were there because it was all so good.

We've stayed in the St Andre des Arts apartment. The floor plan was a bit awkward for 4 people as the bathroom is off the kitchen so, if those sleeping in the bedroom need to use the bathroom at night, they'd have to walk through the living room where the sofa bed is located.

I should also say that the agency did not tell us about building renovations which included the entire courtyard filled with scaffolding. The St Andre des Arts apartment faces the courtyard so we couldn't open any windows and had to keep the drapes closed to avoid the ugly view.
I felt like they should have advised us of this problem before our arrival.

The two apartments you are considering are very well located.
I just wouldn't want to walk through anyone's sleeping space to get to a bathroom at night. Our stay there was a few years ago and there were just 2 of us so it really wasn't an issue....I'm certain the scaffolding is gone by now.
I would ask about the floor plan of the rue de Buci apartment to see where the bath is located. Rue Mazarine is also in the same general area, so also in a great location.

We usually stay in the 7th near the Eiffel Tower. Walking to the tower at night to admire the sparkles is part of our evenings in Paris. BUT I have read so much on this forum that the 6th is the place to stay so with that, we are looking at these apartments. I will make a decsion soon. We looked at apartments through Vacation in Paris and the ones available for just 4 nights seemed....sort of tacky/shabby/Ikeaish. Maybe it is just the photos on their site. Thanks for the good info so far!

Once a year or so we meet our adult daughters in Paris. The area where these apartments are is always their first choice. They really like it much better than the 7th, though I am sure there are many young people who prefer the 7th!! I understand why the location of these appeals to you.

there are lots of agencies offering apartments in Paris - a lot are mentioned here. I suggest that you search a few more before making your decision, as by the sound of it, each of the ones you have mentioned have some drawbacks.
apart from cost of course, is there some reason why you are going for 1 bed apartments? there are going to be 4 of you for most of the time so a 2-bed would be more suitable. We have rented a number of apartments and always get proper bedrooms for everyone - what if someone feels ill or just wants to sleep, or you want to stay up and watch TV or listen to music and the girls want to go to bed? and one bathroom isn't much for 3 women!
you've got plenty of time between now and June to find an apartment - no need to rush!

Thank you for your suggestions. I am finding many apartmetns that appeal to me to be rented for our dates, surprisingly. I am looking at one bedroom because the girls are on very tight budgets for this jaunt to Paris (we are attending a week-long wedding celebration in Ireland for the week prior and the girls are hoping for a little side trip to Paris). Their priority is low price. That being said, I will look at two-bedroom apartments also, although I don't think we will be hanging around the apartment much at all, so do not need a lot of space. Maybe if we were staying longer that would be a top priority. I will keep looking! I so appreciate the advice. Now if someone could just post a link to the 'difinitive' apartment for us!!!

I have stayed in the Buci apartment for the past two years and will be staying there again this fall. My daughter and I love it. It is small, but has everything you could need (with the exception of places to put your clothes -- there is a shelf in the bedroom, and some hanging space in the living room). I don't think it's tremendously "charming", but the location is perfect. Noise from rue de Buci has never been a problem. With the windows closed, you really don't hear anything, and the bedroom is at the back of the apartment overlooking the courtyard. We can't imagine staying anywhere else. Be aware that there is no air conditioning in the apartment, although last year they did have a fan. It's more convenient to the bank ATM machines and to Metro lines 4 and 10 than the St. Andre des Arts location. The apartment agency has been wonderful to deal with.

I think I am going to go with VRBO #339804 in the Marais. Found it, like the price and location, and it is available. I think it will work for us. No problem with stairs. After eating Parisian sweets all day we can use the exercise. I am thankful for all the advice!

Hi again,
i like this one much more. in a nice area and an extra loo, which will be useful. one point - it says 3 bedrooms, but I don't think it means that - i can only find one bedroom and a sofa bed, but you've already said that's ok.
nice price too!

annhig - yes, the 3 bedroom mention doesn't make sense. Now, another hitch. My neice says her boyfriend may want to come with. Holy Cow, I am back to the drawing board if this happens! Sheesh, I love that girl but she is making life hard for me!!!!!

rbnwdln - i think that the owners have translated "chambers" as "bedrooms" instead as just "rooms".
but it now sounds as if you are DEFINITELY going to need that 2nd bedroom! or invite her and the BF to find their own accommodation.
