Last June we stayed in Rouen 2 nights at Hotel Cathedrale. You can check out it at http://www.cathedrale-hotel.com/
We enjoyed the location (across from the catherale on the side) to everything. Although the price didn't include breakfast (another 7.50 euro) it was a huge buffet and we ate there each morning.
We arrived by train and it was a shorot walk to the cathedral and everyone was amenable.

Hi, adamsparks... I've been looking at Rouen recently, and am considering Hotel des Carmes, Hotel Cardinal and Hotel de la Cathedrale. We like to walk in from the train stations whenever possible. I use www.mappy.com to determine distances. Put in "place de la gare" and "rouen", then your hotel address, choose "pedestrian". Mappy will give you shortest route and distance. I recall that these hotels fell into about 1/2 mile range (800 meters) or so. I would walk that with backpack or rollie bag in about 15 minutes.

Travelnut: I couldn't get a response from Hotel des Carmes. I think I am going to go with Hotel de la Cathedrale. I have gotten some good recommendations about it from friends here on Fodors, and it looks good. I also tried Hotel du Vieux Carre but again had problems with responses. Thanks for the tip on distance!
