We stayed at Hotel Gerberhaus last spring. I think we paid 75-80 dollars for a double. It was spotless and very attractive without being fussy. Only downside was getting through a narrow, smoky bar area ( which is also the front desk)to get to our room.

We stayed at the Hotel Reichskuechenmeister last summer. It was a very nice hotel, great location, extremely clean. Our room was a corner room so we had windows facing two streets -- it got a little noisy early in the morning (with street traffic, perhaps trucks) but we LOVED that as we feel it is all part of the total experience. We felt like it was a bargain at approx. $112 for 3 people. They also have a pretty good restaurant with outdoor seating -- great place to people watch. You've probably already heard this advice, but be sure to take the Night Watchman's tour.

The Reichs Kutchenmeister is one of our favorite spots to stay. We have stayed there many times. Be sure to ask for a room in the main old building. The restaurant is also good in the evening. They have a non-smoking section in the corner which is great to find in Germany.

Another good hotel is the Markusturm. Very scenic and good service also. We stayed there in December as the Reichs was full and really enjoyed it.
