Rooms to avoid/ask for at Thistle Victoria, London?

Will be staying in a standard double, not worried about the accomodations per se, just wondering if theres a wing or floor that offers better view, more quiet...and conversely, should any particular rooms be avoided.

Also, an etiquette question: my previous trips have been booked independently but this time it's a package through one of the airlines, sooo...is it gauche to ask for a different room if the first one we're taken to proves unacceptable? I have no problem asking for a change when I have personally made the arrangements, but this is a bit different. And am I likely to be successful if I do ask for a change?

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer.

Cant say exactly about room location. But under any and all circumstances, booked direct, thru your TA,internet, dentist, chiropractor, brain surgeon--if you dont like the room, ask for another. It is more than highly unlikely that the desk clerk knows anything about your reservation. It shold not make a diff. All they can say is no.The one and only time I was refused another room was when I got to the Hilton/Miami Airport and the only room they had was the one they gave me.It was the last room on the wing that is closest to the runways.I really didnt mind. But just ask.
