Rome with 8 people??

My family and I are planning a trip to Italy for sept. We would like to see all the sights, but I would also like to see the little towns surrounding and the ocean as well... we have a large group of people..does anyone have any suggestions of where to stay? or other cities to stay that are close to Rome??Any suggestions would be great Thanks!

How long do you have for the trip - it could take weeks to see "all" of the sights in Rome. So - do you have time for one or two day trips - or to go to other places?

Also - what is the composition of the group - any kids, teens, seniors or people with special needs.

(I would tend to reco an apartment or apartments for that many people depending on your time/locations.)

Hi pnj, how long will you have IN Italy not counting travel time? How many nights IN Italy.

How many nights do you wish to stay in Rome.

If you had enough time you could go south by train and stay along the coast and enjoy the sea. Others here on Fodor's have rented villas in MasaLubrense (a small charming town along the waterfront) which is about 6KL or around 3 miles south of Sorrento and have enjoyed it.

But it is hard to make suggestion not knowing how long you will have in Italy.

A fun day trip from Rome is to take the train to Orvietto. That would take about an hour to reach.

I will leave the apartment advice to others as I have never rented an apartment.
