Rome Via Vespa or Scooter Tour
Hi!
Heading to Rome - Day one we will be exhausted after 10 days in another location with a large group. Will be ready to slow it down on day one.
Any suggestions for a quickie/overview tour via Vespa or Scooter? maybe 2-3 hours that will allow us to get a feel for the area and attractions so we can get our bearings and see a little bit of everything.
Any input appreciated! ( FYI it will be a Wednesday late morning / early afternoon when we wish to tour )

I use to ride a company Vespa in Rome, but it can be a harrowing experience! . . Unless you are used to riding a scooter in very heavy traffic, I would rethink.
The Italians drive very aggressively and seem to consider scooters as fair game! Other scooter drivers are even less concerned wit your well being.

I assume the OP means riding pillion, not in control of their own scooter. There are many pillion tours. This is one example.
Check your travel insurance. If you have an accident you may not be covered.

If you have not been to Rome before and seen the traffic I wouldn't even consider it. Many intersections don;t have traffic lights - and precedence is decided by the chicken method.
If you are not experienced riding a vespa I would not even begin to consider this - even as pillion (and where's the fun in that anyway). And this is from someone who had a beau with a real bike and rode pillion (with full leathers - because anything else is ridiculous unless you want hundreds of piece of gravel picked out of your skin).
One note - if you do decide to do this read carefully the permission document you have to sign - understanding that no one but YOU is responsible for any problems and associated costs - including the cost of the Vespa.

I rode with Micaele a couple of years ago. It was a great time and I would do it agian without hesitation. The drivers are very good and at no time did I feel unsafe.

I lived for a few months in Rome, in Parioli, and I had no problems driving a scooter and I am a bad female driver, although i started driving a scooter to school when I was 15. I don't think drivers are that aggressive in Rome and they are very conscious of the scooters. I tried for a while here in Stockholm were I live now but because Swedish drivers are not used to scooters it felt a lot more dangerous. I have also tried in Paris and that was very very scary. But Rome was ok.

Anyone out there try this company??
My travel buddy has spend her calf and cannot do a ton of walking - thought it was the way to go.
