Rome to Sperlong Day Trip?
Would like a peaceful seaside/beach trip after a 2 day whirlwind tour of Rome the first week of October. Sunday is our "open" day. I think Sperlonga might be just perfect, but I am concerned about the logistics of traveling there on a Sunday. I read somewhere that the buses from the Fondi-Sperlonga station are sporadic, if not non-existent on Sundays. What about restaurants and shops being open? Any suggestions?

You ABSOLUTELY don't have enough time to make that journey in one day! It will take you a minimum of four hours to get from Rome to Sperlonga one way. Sperlonga is a fabulous place, but it's really out of the way to travel by anything other than a car.

I was looking at taking the train from the Rome Termini station to the Fondi-Sperlonga station and then a bus or taxi on to Sperlonga. The train time from Rome to Fondi is listed at around 1 hour and 15 minutes. My concern was the availability of a bus on a Sunday.

The second schedule list is for Sunday (festivo). That's the winter (invernale) schedule.
