Rome to San Gimignano
What is the best, most expedient way to get from Rome to San Gimignano? Will be arriving in Rome Sept. 23 and would like to leave for San Gimignano the next day using train or bus. Where is Tiburtina Bus Station? Is it southeast of Termini? Thanks.

Tiburtina station is also a metro stop on line B with a big bus area outside. It isn't as modern/nice as Termini and not a place you would want to hang out at night but you will be fine during the day.

From Rome to San Gimignano, there are essentially two routes: one through Siena, the other through Florence. Connecting through Florence should be faster.
First Alternative:
Rome Tiburtina to Siena by SENA bus: 5 runs daily; 2.5 hours; www.sena.it
Connect to TRA-IN bus to San Gimignano (may require connection in Poggibonsi)
www.trainspa.it
Second Alternative: Rome Termini to Florence S. M. Novella by Eurostar train: hourly departures; 1.5 hours. www.trenitalia.com
Connect to SITA bus to Poggibonsi, second bus to San Gimignano.
