Rome to Positano by car?

Does anyone know how many hours does it take from Rome to Positano by car?

about 3.5 hours (without traffic) plus add some extra time for getting lost several times.

You can make it in 3 if you hustle, but why do you want to make that drive?

Why not Bob? We'll be doing the same thing because we want to have a car in AC. Do you suggest going by train to Naples and rent a car there?

JoyC,
I think bob may have been trying to discourage even having a car on the Amalfi Coast. From a previous post of yours I see that you have driven the Amalfi Coast before so you know what the roads and towns are like.

The drive from Rome to Naples is very easy and a straight shot. If you already have a car then you should be fine.

If you don't have a car already the high speed train is a good choice to Naples.

OK, so be it. I have done that but find it is just too much hassle to manage the car.

I for one always have a car when I'm in Italy and do not think of it as a hassle. If you haven't been there, stop in Pompeii on the way.
