Rome to London - getting the itinerary order right
Hi
I posted a few months ago about my planned trip for March/April next year and got lots of great ideas thanks to all who answered! Have now booked our tickets into Rome (12/3/10) and home from London ( 28/4/2010). I am trying to work out the best order of stops. We would prefer trains over flights and have decided not to rent a car this holiday as much of the time will be in cities.
The first part seems to have fallen into place partially due to commitments to spend Easter with Friends and relatives in Germany.
Italy 16 days - overnight train from Venice to Bratislava
Bratislava 4 days (visit my brother)
train via Salzburg to Munich (should we stay 1 night there?)
Munich 4 days (Staying with friends there for easter weekend)
The I want to go to Paris and Amsterdam before heading to London but I can not decide what makes most sense Munich to Paris then Amsterdam or Munich to Amsterdam then Paris? Does anyone know which is more logical?
Does 7 days Paris and 3 days Amsterdam and then 7 days in England sound like a good split of time?
Any suggestions /advice would be great
Thanks

Hi em,
Add a night or two to Salzburg, if you can. It is worth it.
>Does 7 days Paris and 3 days Amsterdam and then 7 days in England sound like a good split of time?<
Yes.
If you go Amsterdam/Paris/London, you can take the Eurostar through the tunnel.
If you go to Amsterdam and then to London, flying might be better.
You have enough to do. Missing Belgium won't cause you grief.
Enjoy your visit.

Thanks Ira
I will have a look at trains from Munich to Amsterdam as I was thinking I would like to take the Eurostar. I did not realise I could not get that from Amsterdam too.
I might try to get my Munich friends to meet us in Salzburg so I can then shave a night off there without loosing time with them.
