rome neighborhoods to avoid

In a column in a local paper, the author tells about going for a run early<BR>in the morning in the Borgese garden and getting lost, and ending up in a really bad neighborhood. Are there neighborhoods in Rome to avoid. I like to walk around and don't want to end up in the wrong place.

I've heard some areas around the termini train station are 'seedy'. from my own experience, i've never wandering in, what i consider an unsafe area there. things may feel different early in the morning when there aren't lots of people around.
