Rome - Need advice on car/driver

Does anyone have a recommendation for a car and driver for a day we Rome. We need someone to pick up the 4 or us, hit a couple of sites and drop us at the port where we are leaving on a cruise.

jtslattery,

Rome is a very walkable city if you are able to walk. Exactly how much time do you have to "hit a coupel of sites" and which sites do you want to hit?

You might do better to have a driver pick you up at a predetermind site and go to the port from there.

Stefano did a day trip with us some years ago out of Perugia. Our hotel arranged it. He said he will drive anywhere in Italy. His English was not perfect so he seems very reserved. If you do meet him, please tell him that the Rhodys say hi.

We recommend Emilio Menastre at www.customtoursrome.com to maximize your time in Rome.

What sites do you plan to "hit"? Some of Rome's sites are in pedestrian only areas, but a driver can drop you close.

Rome Shuttle Limousine is 110€ to the port, but would add on for touring you around.

From the airport, taxis are set fees so you will find most transfer services to be around the set price of a taxi to compete. The current taxi fee from FCO to Civitavecchia is 120€. Gives you a guideline to go by when pricing transfer services.

We, too used Rome Cabs. We had a tour somewhat like Rome in a Day, but customized for us. We did the Vatican on another day, so Stefano took us to a couple of other churches, esp Santa Maria in Trestavere. He was delightful, fully confirmed everything via email, and presented us with a bottle of wine at the end of the day. A great way to get an overview of Rome.
