How are you arriving/departing? If you arrive and depart by air which airport are you travelling to/from?

I am arriving by plane from Brindisi at FCO and departing from FCO back to the US. I have been to Rome many times. I was thinking of staying near the airport...or at a hotel in Rome and returning to the airport in the a.m.

I'd stay near the airport or near Termini since there's a train to Termini from FCO. Before you make a hotel reservation, I'd check prices and also how early the trains start in the morning, if your flight departs early in the morning.

Again, Hotel Raphael. They will get you a cab back to airport in the a.m. and you can spend the evening on their rooftop terrace or on the extremely nearby Piazza Navona! It won't be your cheapest layover but it will be a pleasant one.

We have stayed at hotel lirico. Its a 5 minute(or less) walk from Termini. We have also looked at hotel giulana(I think that that is how it is spelled), and it looks O.K.It is`around the corner from lirico. I'd stay in that general area if you're planning to take the train to FCO.
