Rome Budget Accomodations
We have finally decided on one of two different places to stay. We are two families on a very tight budget (we would rather spend it on food
Could any one comment on the locations, especially the apartment near the termini. It looks especially nice in the photos. Has any one used sleepinitaly.com?

The problem with your second apartment near Metro Line A is that currently it is terminating at 9 PM, or at least it was the last I heard. The metro ride will not put you exactly where you want to be, most of the time, so really I think you will need at least 45 minutes each way to get to your first tourist destination of the day.
How many of you are there?
Check out the SlowTalk.com and SlowTrav.com sites. SleepinItaly was recently removed as a SlowTalk advertiser because there had been too many instances of apartments being suddenly unavailable after being booked months in advance. But many people have been very happy with the agency also.

I'm not wild about either location, but I suppose I'd rather be by Termini (and that is rightby Termini) than out in the sticks.
How many of there are you and what exactly is your top price? Have you checked vrbo? there are a few large apartments available on realrome.com, a budget company I've used. They are out by the Vatican, though. I might prefer that location to your other options, actually, but I've been to Rome before.

Thank you both for your response. We are two families, one with three adults and the second with 2 adults, 2 children. We planned on sharing the apartment. Would be about 90 euro each
night in the summer. Thank you for the sleepinitaly info.
The second location is about 95 euro for a quad.
I have read about the Metro line A not running after 9 pm on slowtravel but did not see any notice of it on the metro website http://www.metroroma.it/MetroRoma/
I know this may see very unrealistic but the most we can spend is $200 for a quad.
Thanks

Ljnkmail-I have looked at Don Bosco before, it's too far out. However the Termini apartment is really quite lovely and spacious-looking at the map, if you follow where it's located around to the front of Termini, this is where all your tourist hop on hop off buses are located, as well as other buses to any part of the city or surrounding areas, then keep on going around until you get to Via Cavour, follow it south to Esquilino, and there is my favorite spot-Santa Maria Maggiore, and in the area of Cavour there are all kinds of great little restaurants, shops and gelateria.
I'd take that Termini apt. in a minute-you'll see how close it is to everything, you can walk from there to many of the major sites, or just hop on a bus there in the front of Termini-PLUS, being two families, and needing groceries, why, all you have to do is go to Termini station, with its big underground shopping arcade, UPIM, eateries, clothing shops, I have a feeling you'll be quite pleased once you see its proximity to everything, as well as ease of getting the necessities you need to make your stay pleasant. I've walked that area by myself as recently as a couple of months ago at night-there wasn't any problem, and there are plenty of law enforcement in this area, so I'd take the apt. and have fun.

ljnkmail, vrbo.com is Vacation Rentals by Owner or something like that. It's a website with gazillions of places all over the world. I have never rented using that website, but many here have.
I don't know what kind of sleeping arrangements you all need, but it may be easier to find two apartments near to each other than one really big place. Check cross-pollinate.com, too. I rented from them when I was a bit younger (smile)--a basic but centrally located place in Trastevere.
