Easiest way is to hire a private car to meet you at the airport.
This is one co that gets good reviews.

Can anyone advise approximately how much a taxi from Ciampino to Rome (near Partheon) might cost?
I've seen 30 Euros on one site (airport website), 35 Euros on another (RyanAir website), and 75 Euros on another (TripAdvisor posting).
Thanks -

Hi Asalamy - You can find typical rates for a pre-booked service from Ciampino at:
www.limoservicerome.com
www.airportshuttle.it
Both these companies regularly get good reviews here.
[A taxi booked at the airport itself will probably cost you more].
Hope this helps ...

Hi Alilt,
when we flew into Ciampino 18 months ago, we booked a limo service through our apartment agency. it cost 50E for 4.
though our flight arrived on time, he was about 30 minutes late, and there were lots of cabs just waiting. However, it was easter sunday afternoon, so not necessarily representative.
There was also a bus, but we weren't too concerned about it.
if you are travelling reasonably light, are confident about the metro, and know where you are going, then public transport should be fine. if you are nervous and/or travelling after dark, I'd pre-book a taxi.
regards, ann

Thanks for the detail - I was actually talking about just grabbing a taxi at the airport, rather than a pre-booked car service. It seems that would be well above the 30-35 Euros quoted on the Ryanair and airport websites though. I was concerned about walking from Termini Station after dark, particularly with the recent crime that's been in the news.
I will consider pre-booking, although not sure if it is worth the 54 Euros it would cost after 9pm!

Hi again, alilt,
if you are arriving late, it's likely there would be plenty of cabs. after all, it's a place where cabbies can rely upon a fare sooner or later.
the alternative would be to get the airport bus to termini, then get a cab from there.

Rome Shuttle Limousine is 35E for 3 people from Ciampino to Rome/hotel. Their web site doesn't list a late night surcharge, but you might e-mail and ask.

The Terravision bus from Ciampino to Termini is 8E per person.

The taxi drivers that line up at Ciampino are notorious for *not* respecting the set fee of 30 Euro. Do yourself a favor and prebook for 35 Euro with romeshuttlelimousine.com; there is a surcharge of 5 Euro after 10:00 p.m.

I don't know what "recent crime" you read/heard about, but if it was about the woman who was murdered, it took place in an outlying area of Rome that you would never go to as a tourist.

Hi
My wife and I took the Leonard Express when we went to Rome a couple of years back. There is a metro line from Termini to the Spansish steps area. Here is my trip report with pictures and links: http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there

My husband and I just returned from 21 days in Rome and Madrid. I can add our enthusiastic support for Rome Shuttle Limousine.
http://www.romeshuttlelimousine.com/CiampinoE.htm
The driver was waiting in the arrival hall holding a sign with our last name. We followed him just outside to the car (a Mercedes) at the curb, and we at our apartment in Trastevere in half an hour. Could not have been easier. We reserved via email from the States (no prepayment needed). In addition, they answered a couple of questions quite promptly via email.
For more information, see my recently posted trip report:

Given the similarity in costs between taxi and private car, we would use Rome Shuttle Limousine again without question. A great value at 35 Euros, IMHO.
Enjoy your trip!

Hi ... The very best way to get from Rome Airport to your hotel is to have your hotel arrange for a driver to pick you up. It is only a tiny bit more expensive than a cab (which you will get different quotes for), they greet you right as you get off the plane and take you the most direct route since the cost is already preset. We had never booked a driver before but were so glad that in this case we did.
