Romantic ideas in Italy (Rome or Florence)

We will be traveling to Rome for 6 days with a one day trip over to Florence. We want to do something romantic for our anniversary while we are there, any ideas? I know know its Italy its all romantic but soemthing a little more specific would be great.

You can take a walk to see the Forum at night, and the views from the steps down from the Capitoline are wonderful. We always see romantic couples there at night.

i have to agree the area around the Colosseum/Forum at night is just the most romantic place or the Trevi Fountain it seems that this place is never quiet! but everywhere you look there are couples throwing their coins in making wishes then sitting staring dreamily at the sight in front of them aah the "Romance" of Rome is hard to beat

Do a walk at night across the central district, hitting all the major fountains and squares.

Is this trip all planned and set in stone? If not, consider an open jaws ticket, flying in or out of Venice. Venice is the most romantic place in Italy. How about a gondola ride for your anniversary?
