romantic getaway in ischia

hi im looking to go to ischia in mid-july, i know this is the busiest season but its the only time i can go. I will be taking a ferry from amalfi, here are some questions i have:

1) which part of ischia is the easiest to reach from ferries from amalfi

2) i am in my early 20's and i am looking for a hotel to stay in for 3 nights with my boyfriend, i would like a hotel that is walking distance to the beach, a town where there are small bars and restaurants, a decent sized pool for swimming, and spa that doesnt have to be huge just offers massages and some pools (this is not a necessity). and a balcony off the room.

3) we are looking to spend 100-150 euro a night

4) also somewhere that wont have so many children

specific areas or hotel names would be very helpful

thanks christina

The easy part first... there's a daily connection, operated by the Alicost line, from mid-June onwards which comes into the island's main harbour at Ischia Porto. For a compilation of their timetables from last year, see...

.... and this is the boat they use, tied up here that first day: seats up top for those who enjoy a sunbathe!

By that time the island's tourists are 80% Italian, and the schools will have been out for a month, so you should expect to find kids almost everywhere - but do remember that they're Italian children, and much the nicer for it!

You'll perhaps be able to get an idea of the island from the all too many photos here...

And, with close to 300 hotels, it's perhaps better that you begin with picking an area you like, and then a hotel - or you might have a look on sites such as Venere, or TripAdvisor, and see what's in your budget range?

As far as I know I'm the only Englishman living here, so I'm a little reluctant to make specific suggestions!

You are a long walk, or a very short bus ride (buses run often) from Citara beach and Forio town. For massages, you are best off at one of the large beach clubs--either Poseidon or Negombo, both are easily reached by a quick bus ride and you pay to enter and to use various services. This hotel is but one option but I stayed here and it represents good value for price, in my opinion:

That's one with which I can't offer you very much help - although I did eventually find couple of photos in which it can just be made out...

Although the island's not large, Forio would be more than a walk away!

Hi Christina, I've been in Ischia last summer and I suggest you 2 hotels in Forio which are near to sea and beaches and even to the center where you can find beautiful shops and good restaurant!!
