Romance and Birthday!

Message: Parents are watching the kids - have free tickets anywhere Delta flies. Want to go somewhere romantic and beautiful - not a city...have been to some beautiful spots in France (Brancion, Cassis, VilleFranche sur Mer, Avignon, Arles) but thinking Spain or Italy...Want nice but don't want to eat beans for the next 6 months...Husband is turning 50 and we never had the honeymoon...Any suggestions - planning for April.

This is your third thread on this topic. The other two on the "other topics" board and the "US" board, all asking about a different location to go -- Hawaii, the Caribbean, and now France, Spain, or Italy.

Romantic, birthday? -- Go to Paris.

I would have said Paris or Venice, but if you don't want a city, try
Einque Terre,Tuscany or Umbria or the Amalfi Coast or one of the Italian lakes

Rent the film Enchanted April (that's Portofino I believe)
or Under the Tuscan Sun (I think that's Cortona and area)
or A Month By the Lake
or Only You (Positano--Amalfi Coast and other places)
or Summertime (Venice)

Fabulous ideas Elaine to rent those movies. Erinng, for how long will you be away and what is your budget? Might help to narrow options. Are we talking this April? You might not be able to redeem award tickets for "anywhere."

First - of all:
Sorry- I posted in general and someone told me to post on individual boards. I'm thinking Europe, Carib/LA or Hawaii, so I posted on 5 boards.

Second - Thanks for the movie list - that will be great!

Third - One week - yes this April - not frequent flyer miles so I think I can get the space.

Great advice!

Caution about Under the Tuscan Sun -- my wife saw the portion on the beach at the Amalfi Coast and asked: "Is that where we're going"? referring to our trip to Tuscany, and having never been to Italy other than Rome, Florence, and Naples (Capri).

Il Cavallino D'Oro in Ortesei in the Dolomites. 150 Euro/night for a Junior Suite with half board, a balcony with a view to do die to, a romantic little town with markets and lots of places to wander if the spirit movesd you.

I agree with kfusto except look for the hotel in Castelrotto not Ortisei.
