Roast Chicken - where?

OK, I keep hearing about the wonderful roast chickens at street markets in Paris. Are the only at the once-a-week type markets?
We will be there in one months (first week of May) staying in Monmartre-- any ideas where a good place to pick one up is?

My family and I get one on Rue Abbesses and the corner of Rue Lepic
ou go by in the morning and pick one out and stop by later to pick it up. Its next to the Comfort Inn in Monmarte. They also have great sides potatoes and green beans or carrots. Then around the corner on Rue Lepic is a great shop for Tarts and bread. Also a great cheese shop and a good wine store. There you have the perfect feast. This is a favorite memory of my two daughters first chritmas in Paris. And we also enjoy the same on each trip back. We are are already planning for Paris trip in Nov. We also stay in Monmarte. The Chicken stsnd open & days a week year round.

Hi jonesie, I don't think you'll have a problem finding roast chickens, I've seen them many places along my walks in Paris. Sometimes you will find them on a rotisserie in a meat market. Just keep your eyes open.

Another vote for rue des Abbesses. I think the place we go to is the one Quiz is referring to. It's just a small rotisserie shop near the corner with rue Lepic. We always get half a poulet fermier (free-range chicken) with potatoes. Yum

Also rue de Seine, between rue de Buci and Blvd. St. Germain.

I should add, rue des Martyrs is probably quite convenient for you in Montmartre.
