You stories remind me of a woman who was a lost pulled into the polar bear enclosure at the Central Park zoo. She climbed over the outer railing then sat down right next to the inner railing and stuck her arm through as far as she could waving it and taunting the bear.
The bear disappeared into the water next to the inner fence and the idiot woman managd to get her shoulder inside and her hand almost into the water.
When the bear exploded up out of the water right next to her trying to bite her arm she started screaming - and had to be pulled back by a couple of alert visitors.
When asked why she did it she said she though it was just a big old lazy thing and couldn't hurt her! A POLAR BEAR!!!
Some people are really just totally stupid and lacking in common sense. Sometimes I think that the human race is getting stupider since there are so many protections to prevent natural consequences.

Brilliant festival, unbeatable spirit. A deeply locally rooted, joyful and energetic exposure of Basque/Navarrean culture; music, song, dance, food, wine, sports etc etc 24/7. The best atmosphere and a party to remember (most of it;-)) for a lifetime. It's a reason that people tend to come back again and again, decades after decades. Fun for all ages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFK-A4uTw4s
And the running is risky. Don't run the first day and in the weekends, the crowds makes it much more unpredictable and dangerous. I kind of lost my head the one time I ran some 25 years ago, and was lucky to come out in one piece.

I mean really, it's basically just a bunch of macho douchebags trying to prove how tough and manly they are, isn't it? I don't really see the point; it doesn't look fun or thrilling, just scary and stressful.
People do a lot of stupid stuff for the sake of "tradition", and this is just another example.

it's animal torture and animal abuse and all who participate or support are guilty of supporting needless animal torture just for the excitement of mainly macho men.
a disgrace to Spain as is bull fighting in general.

If people want to risk their lives this way - really stupid - but it's their decision.
But until they can get the bulls to agree - it's animal cruelty and should be banned.
If the runners are missing excitement in their life - let them walk a tightrope without a net.

If PalenQ hasn't, I have. I saw several bulls limping along with broken limbs when their hooves had slipped on the streets, with stupid participants trying to goad them. It was sickening.
I've also attended one and one only, a bullfight. It's not a fight, it's ritualised killing.
Isn't it about time that all the proponents of these activities, running and fighting alike, saw it for what it is? Or are there too many people who make money out of them?

And the point of this insipid link with insipid crime reports - yes IMO bull fighting and the torture at Pamplona are crimes right up with these - you love blood and gore at animals expense for your own amusement - fine - but not fine for the animals - be proud of your defense of this barbaric tradition.
No I have never been to the Running of the Bulls and never will.

Since you've never experience the fiesta first hand, this conversation isn't relevant.
Rubicund's description assures me, and millions of others, that he/she/it has never attended the fiesta and should probably consider never returning to Dublin.
Zippo; great handle, very en"Lighting". The majority of young and childless runner are from the UK and Austrailia and make the daily news with their drunken stupidity.
I agree with the Darwin Award. But then again, I've come across a few from "Northern Meeeechigan" over the years who fit the bill.
I've been doing the fiesta for much longer than PalenQ has been posting on this blog and have never witnessed a bull being mistreated. At an average cost exceeding €8000 per bull, it would be really stupid to mistreat any of them. And yes, all bulls die, and all in up in the market. Which is why we get to enjoy bull stew a week later.
If you want to see the mistreatment of farm animals, check out the farms run by McDonalds and Company, and other meat food processors, and leave the ranches that raise fighting bulls alone.

I am glad I never went to San Fermin when I was younger for I might have been tempted to run. On one visit to Pamplona, many years ago, the restaurant at which we ate a few times was bombed, presumably by the ETA, about a week after we left.

Please, let's be a little more relevant, besides, ETA, being as bad as they were, never bombed a restaurant. This the pure BS promoted by fools and idiots! You are a fool to continue to promote such lies. If you don't know what you're talking about, you should keep your foolish, and rather lame opinions to yourself!

So let me get this straight. You knew nothing of this incident until now but were sure it was not the ETA, a group that killed over 800 people.
But you willing to smear me. Got it.
As you are invovled some how with Spanish tourism, I guess you are not prejudiced or have an economic interest in these boards.
Have you ever read Ibsen's "Enemy of the People" which was loosely turned to Jaws?
People involved in travel as sources of income, should have disclaimers on these boards so that all ill know that reasons for opinions.
