Rip off guides - da Vinci code tours
I called these people about a year ago for a da Vinci code tour. www.paris-tours-guides.com Why not, thought it would be fun. They asked for Euro50 per person which I found very steep.
Contacted them again several days ago and now they charge Euro100 per person or Euro500 if you want to just have them on your own! Talk about gorging people for a commercial book. Fun book to read, but this is ridiculous.
I'll stick to Paris Walks as they do a da Vinci code tour, but I thought it would be nice to try something new.

You could also do one on your own. Fodor's wrote one, it's in the "Mini Guides" section
http://www.fodors.com/miniguides I would post the whole link, but it's really long and it might just screw up your post.

WHAT? 100/500euros! Don't be dippy!
I have just looked at PARIS WALKS.COM and they do a tour for 25euros AND give you a ticket to get into the Louvre any time you like!
I hope others are as smart as yourself and don't get suckered into such a rip off.

I think tours of historical sites based on fictional books <b>is</b> kind of a 'rip off'... do they impart factual information about the sites or what the book says, or what..? I'd just prefer a straightforward, informational tour myself...

I think it is a bit unfair to be bashing these people. Clearly they are in a different class than Paris Walks. They offer private, custom or customizable tours.
I note from their website that a normal 4 hour private tour is €340. This is per tour, not per person. While these are not the kind of tours that I would ever buy, to make Da Vinci code freaks pay an extra €60 seems reasonable to me.

Travelnut, I think this type of tour is done for "fun". Obviously the OP was quoted a price WAY too high, but a walking tour on their own or with the above mentioned pariswalks in relationship to the book might be something they are interested in. There are tons of other "serious" tours available if that's what they decide they prefer.
