The main highway is in excellent condition and is easy to drive. There really is no better alternative.

It's a beautiful drive.
I can't wait to do it again.
What is your source for

We just did the drive about a week ago and it was beautiful. Definitely curvy, but I didn't think dangerous. There are a lot of place to pull off if you want to let people pass you if you want to drive slower. Definitely worth the drive.

I should have added that the drive may be a challenge to a very inexperienced driver or for a person whose driving is more-or-less restricted to shopping trips.

There is also the problem that when tourists drive between Marbella and Ronda, they share the road with others who drive the road frequently and want to go fast because they know every turn.

However, whenever you drive a road for the first time, you are likely to share it with others who have driven it many times.

Winding? - YES

Dangerous.... No! BUT are you used to driving with a manual transmision? Are you a nervous driver? Every couple of kms let anyone that is pushing behind you pass.

The scenery is gorgeous!

I am a big chicken when it comes to heights and I loved it. In very bad weather it might be a problem but in normal weather it is great.
