we went to Rhodes in Sept-Oct last year. It was in its last week (7th Oct) and all the bar staff etc. were flying back to uk (and other european countries from whence they came) because the place was shutting down. They were going to return in April to re-open everything. So I would check!

I just got back from Rhodes for our honeymoon and would never go back again. I have a huge posting about this under the Europe forum.

Definitely do NOT stay at Rodos Palace. The rudest people I have ever encountered in the world were in Rhodes.

I don't think there will be much to do in February, especially in Rhodes. Mallorca may be different as many Germans have a second house overthere.

Mallorca never shuts down. It is an island with local population who go on with their business as usual. Not everybody works in tourism. And Palma is big town. I remember that population of Palma is 500 000 (or was it 300 000?).

Rhodes lives more on tourism, so that may close down in a way that you´ll find some life only in the Rhodes-town.

In both cases the weather may be rainy or nice springlike sunny. I was last April in Mallorca and it rained every day.
