Rhine Valley - luggage storage?

Hi all,

Are there any luggage storage options in Bacharach and St. Goar?

I don't think storage is avaliable at either of the train stations, but has any had luck storing at a TI, hostel or hotel for the day (even if you are not staying there)?

Let me know!

I am surprised, very much, that there are no lockers at those train stations - if not would be the exception to my experience.

You can always go to Koblenz and store your bags there and take the short train ride back to Bacharach/St Goar and boat to Koblenz - the classic 2.5 hr ride thru the Rhine Gorge.

I read in previous posts that luggage storage was not at the train stations, but that info could be wrong.

Your idea about leaving luggage at Koblenz is a helful, expecially considering we will be connecting at that station anyway to go to Cologne.

IME of being in hundreds of German train stations nearly all of them have luggage lockers - coin operated. Koblenz certainly has a lot of them.

www.bahn.de the German rail web portal probably has info on luggage lockers/storage in stations.

St. Goar DOES NOT have lockers. The TI has told me they store luggage. The Hotel Hauser serves as an informal TI and I've heard they'll take bags sometimes too.

I'm unsure about Bacharach.

Here's a link to a Bahn website where you can enter the station name, and it provides information on amenities available. It's all in German, but they use symbols, which are pretty self explanatory.

http://www.bahnhof.de/site/bahnhoefe...n__filter.html

Sorry, but I don't know how to do one of those tiny URL links.

Robyn, you go to www.tinyurl.com and input the long URL and you get - drumroll... - a tiny URL.

Copy and paste it and all is well.
