This is really funny. Honestly, folks, that second babble above really wasn't Rex. It was the real babble. I guess Rex is just paying the price for having a certain reputation, shall we say? Thanks for the good laugh! Honestly, this (nor the previous one) is not Rex!

Rex: Oh, I love tongue in cheek! I'm sure you knew that I meant you gave good information generally, not just in this post. Even though you might not have answered any of my few posts directly, I've gotten lots of good tips from you, because I do searches first (like a good Fodor's devotee) which give me good info! And as you can see, I'm a real night owl. Keep up the good work.

I am starting to re-think the math of visitors to this site. I wonder if there are fewer lurkers than I previously supposed. There's just no way of knowing. What if this site is either a) so friendly or b) such a magnet for people that feel drawn into expressing themselves that essentially everyone who comes here eventually posts something? In that case, there are maybe a few hundred of "us" with a continuous infusion of 100 or so new visitors who drop in a few times, but then return infrequently, if ever. It would be interesting to see a thread that invites viewers to post just some very brief "identifier" (zip code or postal code?) if they have NEVER posted a message here EVER. The problem is, without getting very frequent topping, it would quickly fall out of sight - - and newbies may be less likely to go beyond the first page than others. Once upon a time, someone made a list of everyone who had contributed to a certain honeymoon-planning thread. Anybody remember that one?

Coming to this thread is like passing a bad car accident: you don't want to, but you can't help looking, and then you hate yourself for doing so, and you really feel sorry for the people involved.
