I wondered how long it would take you to top your own thread after you saw it had slipped from the first fifty on the front page. Not very long it seems.

And I suppose you will find your way to come back and say "you're right" to me - - around what? 10:40?
Oh, I'm so embarrassed. I made a typo while speaking on Rex's behalf. I guess I was just so nervous. I should have said, ".....little toadies who ARE fawning over him."
One post immediately after the other? Surely the second post is Rex, impersonating babble, correcting the first.
This is really funny. Honestly, folks, that second babble above really wasn't Rex. It was the real babble.
I guess Rex is just paying the price for having a certain reputation, shall we say?
Thanks for the good laugh! Honestly, this (nor the previous one) is not Rex!

I already did a mea culpa, Rex. I'm getting a great kick of this.....and am also delighted that it's taking the discussion away from your stupid ribbons!

I guess I was posting just about simultaneous with you - - asking you to defend me - - as your mea culpa!

And yes - - this is terrible how the focus of this thread is changing, huh? wink...

I'll send up the "you're right, later, of course...

after I answer "Large Marge" - - in an hour or two...
If you look, it will only encourage him. He is keeping track of numbers. Don't make the fatal mistake of being just another number.

Oh, don't you see? This thread proves that Rex has a great sense of humor (plus gives lots of good information).

The "numbers" have been rendered meaningless (now at 442 - - maybe - - and this is a stretch - - that means 142 "actual"). I will never mention them again.
Rex: Oh, I love tongue in cheek! I'm sure you knew that I meant you gave good information generally, not just in this post. Even though you might not have answered any of my few posts directly, I've gotten lots of good tips from you, because I do searches first (like a good Fodor's devotee) which give me good info! And as you can see, I'm a real night owl. Keep up the good work.
Topping it just because I'm up later than anyone else here, and only because Rex's prototype is kind of endearing. Good job.

And Rex, you're collecting some real data, to boot! Good night/good morning all.

I am starting to re-think the math of visitors to this site. I wonder if there are fewer lurkers than I previously supposed. There's just no way of knowing. What if this site is either

a) so friendly

or

b) such a magnet for people that feel drawn into expressing themselves

that

essentially everyone who comes here eventually posts something?

In that case, there are maybe a few hundred of "us" with a continuous infusion of 100 or so new visitors who drop in a few times, but then return infrequently, if ever.

It would be interesting to see a thread that invites viewers to post just some very brief "identifier" (zip code or postal code?) if they have NEVER posted a message here EVER. The problem is, without getting very frequent topping, it would quickly fall out of sight - - and newbies may be less likely to go beyond the first page than others.

Once upon a time, someone made a list of everyone who had contributed to a certain honeymoon-planning thread. Anybody remember that one?

Rex, are you reading this babble that you're writing? Never was the saying "Get a life" more applicable!
Is your craving that great for responses/compliments from these toadies?
It's time for the men with the white coats to take over!

Coming to this thread is like passing a bad car accident: you don't want to, but you can't help looking, and then you hate yourself for doing so, and you really feel sorry for the people involved.
