Return to USA from Dublin via Heathrow

I am traveling with friends who live in different cities in the USA. We will meet in London and after a week fly to Dublin. We have our London-USA flights purchased. We want to fly together to and from Dublin. We are trying to coordinate the best flight choice for our return to London. The flights from Dublin arrive Terminal 2 and our USA flights depart Terminal 5. The first of our flights home departs at 1030.

How much time should we allow for making the transfer between terminals and security in choosing our Dublin London flight? Would we be well advised to fly back the night before rather than day of flights back to USA?

Thank you.

Will your flights home be on one ticket?

These appear to be unconnected flights. If so, you need to be at Heathrow at 07:30 for a 10:30 flight to the USA. Add another hour for deplaning from the Dublin to Heathrow flight and that takes you back to 06:30.

Are there any flights from Dublin that arrive at Heathrow at 06.30? Looks like you all need to arrive at Heathrow the night before (or say your goodbyes in Dublin).

After my experience at Heathrow a couple of years ago on a Edinburgh/Heathrow/PHL single ticket flight, I would arrive the night before. Traveling to another terminal and going through security again took so long we didn't stop once, and walked onto our plane just as the gate was closing.

With morning flights out of LHR -- you will want to be in London the evening before - absolutely. If some of you have afternoon flights out - the your choice really is all fly to LHR the evening before - OR - split up and the 10:30 AM people fly the night before and the 'late' people taking the first flight out of DUB in the morning.
