Restaurants in Monterosso (Cinque Terre)

Looking for restaurant recommendations for Monterosso, or even another other towns in Cinque Terre. We like all kinds of food, and are more interested in value than price. In other words, if it's good, we don't mind paying.
Thanks

We were in Monterosso for a few nights this past April. As far as restaurants, we LOVED Gambero Rosso in Vernazza...best meal of our trip. In Monterosso, we liked Alta Marea. DO NOT eat at Il Moretto.

You can find other posts asking similar questions. Have a great time!

Unfortunately I don't remember the name, but a restaurant right on the water in the old town...has an indoor dining room and a beautiful outdoor terrace right on the sea. Walked down the hill from our hotel through town to the water, turn left and it's a short way down.

I also heartily recommend you avoid Il Moretto. It's in the old town section of Monterosso and the food and service are both subpar.

Three years ago we eate at Belvedre in Monterosso and i am still dreaming about the half eaten plate of pasta with the best pesto i have ever eaten in my life. (I was watching my weight so I only ate half.) They also had this fish dish where all this fish was cooked in an earthen jar and then poured into this big ceramic plate. All of my dinner neighbors seemed to be enjoying it. It is right in town on the water and we loved it. Have fun.

A second for 'La Grotta' in Riomaggiore. It is easy to find, after leaving the train station, turn to your R and go through the pedestrian tunnel to the other end. Then turn L and go up the hill. You will see a small market on your R side and "La Grotta" will be on your R next to it. Food is regional cuisine: trofie or penne al pesto, lots of fish (fried and fresh) dishes, etc). Delicious with good prices!

In Manarola, "Il Porticello" (on the R side as you are walking down to the small harbor) is a terrific trattoria with excellent food and low prices. It is family-owned and open for lunch ad dinner. They serve a variety of dishes and excellent desserts. Their delicious seafood risotto (enough for 2 persons) and their seafood salad are some of my favs!

I have a list of places in Monterosso I like and will add those later once I find the sheet!

As promised, here are a couple of my favorite Monterosso restaurants:

Ristorante Al Pozzo, Via Roma 24 (011 39 0187 817 575, owner is Gino Barilari)
friendly staff, great atmosphere (you can dine inside or outside on the terrace) and terrific food. The seafood risotto is our favorite dish. Two people can eat there for 30 euros - as we did!

Ristorante Il Gabbiano, Via Fegina 84 (011 39 0187 817 578) located right along waterfront promenade. Delicious fresh fish, linguine with pesto, etc. Our bill for 2 people came to 43,00 euros.

Ristorante Al Carugio, Via San Pietro 9 (this restaurant is located adjacent/inside the hotel of the same name). The food is quite good and highlights fresh fish from the area. Two people can eat there for under 40 euros.

Among the best meals we've had in Italy were those at Hotel Porto Roca in Monterosso. The setting is beautiful too. Also, we hiked back to Vernazza twoice to eat lunch at Gambero Rosso.

I second the recommendation for Belvedere in Monterosso, and for the pasta with pesto!

Paule is referring to La Tortuga, which is a stone's throw up the hill from Hotel Pasquale. The lobster pasta I had there (twice) is one of my favorite meals ever.
