Restaurants in Marseilles
After a week in Provence with friends, we are staying the last night at a hotel by the Marseilles Airport due to an early flight. Can someone suggest a nice restaurant in Marseilles, somewhat unique and memorable to celebrate our last night in Provence? It doesn't have to expensive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!..Don

I don't personally know, but thought this one sounded like a good one:
Le Miramar , 12 quai du Port

You are askinng "not have to be expensive" but the following is one of upscale restaurants of Marseille.
les arcenaulx, near le Vieux-Port
I have been to Marseille about 7 times in last two years (for calanque walks) and tried different sorts of restaurants including one that served bouillabaisse. Last time I finally had lunch at this locally well known restaurant. It's in a historical building. Their menu léger (prix fixe light menu) with 2 courses was 24€ + €7 per glass of excellent white wine. French cuisine with local influence ' sea food - but they do meat too. In a library like decors (the walls are covered with book shelves filled with old French literal books), good service of an upscale restaurant but not too formal. They also have a tea room and a book store in the same building. Also there were antique and other shops on the 2 levels. It ould be interesitng for you to visit the whole complex. The menu léger may be available only for lunch. You can see their menu on the following site.
