Restaurant suggestion in 6th Arr
Looking for classic french food experience in or near 6th Arr. Would like to stay under $150 or so for TWO including wine. Restaurants that offer tasting menus are always enjoyable. La Tour D'Argent? Yes or No? Too expensive at dinner? Not a big fan of heavy dining at lunch! Thanks in advance.
Gale,

I like the "Procope", at Rue de L'Ancienne Comedie, in the 6eme.

It's a very old and traditional restaurant. Sometimes, the food was delicious, other times, it wasn't so good, in my experience, but I very much like the ambience.

Check the Procope detailed info at:

http://home.att.net/~sakal/pages/procope.htm

S

Second the vote for Le Bastide Odeon - quite the Parisian experience. Excellent food and service.

Would also vote for La Rotisserie d'en Face on rue Christine.

You'll be out of each of these places for around $100 with wine and dinner for 2.

Some of my personal favourites in the 6th (all small French bistrots with a lot of locals):

"Chez Diane" Rue Servandoni 25, 6th (close to Luxembourg Gardens, north side)

"Le Caméléon", Rue de Chevreuse 6, 6th
off Blvd. Montparnasse

"Le Parc aux Cerfs", 6th, Rue Vavin 50

"La Cigale", Rue Chomel 11bis
(behind Le Bon Marché, it's in the 7th however).
