Restaurant recommendations for Milan

We will be staying in the Lake Como area for a week this June and plan a day trip to Milan.Part of that day trip includes lunch. We are looking for a moderately-priced (60 euros or under for two people?)restaurant that serves representative Milanese cooking. Location would be in the center of town or not real far away (we're pretty good walkers). One name that has come up is Trattoria Milanese, but we are finding mixed comments. Any first-hand advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

We really liked “Osteria di Porta Cicca”, near Porta Genova. It’s a very casual and relatively inexpensive place, but food is definitely first rate – I recall this is run by Claudio Sadler, who has another restaurant called Sadler, which is the premier Italian restaurant in Milan (Michelin 2-star).

Thanks Mochi. It must be fairly authentic because in Google almost all hits are in Italian!

I also ran across some references to Latteria on Via San Marco as a very good inexpensive neighborhood restaurant. Anyone have any experiences with it?

The New York Times had an excellent feature on Milanese food and dining a few weeks ago...not sure if you can access it with a search.

Thanks. I found the article. It ran on May 6 in NYT. Trattoria Milanese again!

You may also want to check out Peck if you are interested in food shopping. Peck is located only few blocks from Duomo.
