I'm presuming that you are American?
I don't know about near the Hyde Park area, but you need a 'fish and chip shop'. This isn't getting fish and chips in a restuarant or pub, but they are high street shops with take out fish and chips.
The best ones tend to be in local areas, and I don't know your area that well, but ask the locals (ie. ask a cab/taxi driver to where the best "local chippy" is. Don't rely on hotel staff for local non toursit info.
