Can anyone give info on what sites I need to get reservations while in Rome that are a must see?
If you are interested in a tour such as Scala Reale, I would definitely reserve early.

Also, reservations for the Borghese and Scavi would be wise.

Definitely reserve in advance for Villa Borghese. It's so much easier that way.

Sam, go to St. Peter's/ Vatican and look for groups that are giving tours. They are generally american kids in college or just our of college who are giving tours to make some money. They are knowledgeable about both locations and is well worth it to have a tour instead of trying to read your tour book. We took a free tour of St. Peter's and than negotiated for a private tour from our tourguide for the Vatican Museum. Trust me, it will be worth the money ($50-75) to have a greater understanding of the museum, plus they can help you navigate and will give you anecdotes that most guide books won't have.
