What are the logistics of getting off the RER-B at CDG? We need to get to terminal #2. Does the RER drop you off right there or do you have to deal with stairs, elevators or esculators? Much walking? With a small suitcase & a carryon each, is this easy to manage?

The RER will drop you off right at the terminal and you take an escalator up. With a small suitcase and a carry-on, it should be a piece of cake for you.

I managed to get the RER back to CDG ok when I left with a huge, heavy suitcase with wheels - CDG station had lifts & escalators...but the station I caught the train from (Luxumbourg I think?) had stairs only (I was fortunate to have the help of a charming Frenchmen!). I can't remember which terminal I left from but I then had to catch a free bus from CDG station to get there which did a continuous loop.

I used RER going the other way (arrived CDG Terminal 1, shuttle bus to Terminal 2, then RER into Paris). The RER station at the airport itself is fine (escalators), but the rest of the RER/Metro system is not so friendly if you have to navigate it with bags. It can be done if you are in decent physical shape. Just give yourself enough time to make connections and be patient.<BR><BR>But if you are simply being dropped at a RER B stop and making no connections, just taking it to CDG, it should be fairly easy.<BR><BR>Andrew<BR>

Hi, Just got back from Paris and Took RER B to CDG1 which is one station before CDG2.<BR><BR>We got on at St Michel RER station which was quite simple but we had alot of trouble getting on the train as the train was quite full and we had a fair bit of luggage. The trains were not designed for tourists with luggage.<BR><BR>Make sure you take the Train which does not stop at all stops. We noticed they were really full as people could get off and on at any stop. With the so-called faster train (stopped at a few stops) we suffered (squashed up with quite a few people with our luggage always getting in people's way) a bit until we got to Gare du Nord. (I would hate to have caught the all station train) Heaps of people got off there and the rest of the ride was quite comfortable.<BR><BR>When we got to CDG 1, we needed to take a free shuttle to the airport which was ok but not painless.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.<BR>Cheers<BR>David

Just to clarify... are you saying CDG1 is a stop on the RER-B, meaning it stops at Terminal 1 now? (then you took a shuttle to get to Terminal 2?) Just wondering, b/c we need to go to T1, and until very recently, never saw any information about a direct stop via RER at T1. Thanks for your info..

On the RER Line B map, you will see CDG Term 1 as the 2nd last stop and then CDG Term 2 as the last stop.<BR><BR>When I got off at the CDG Term 1 stop, I went up the escalator, fed my ticket thru the turnstyles, went outside and caught a shuttle to Terminal 1.<BR><BR>I only used the RER going to the airport.

Good point above. On the RER you must feed your ticket through the turnstile in order to EXIT--be sure to have it.

You should have no trouble as long as you are not traveling w/oversized luggage. My wife & I always use the Metro but travel only w/small 'drag-a-longs'. Large luggage would have to be lifted over the turnstiles which are somewhat narrow.

The RER stops right by the airport terminals.<BR><BR>The problem is the hotel-to-RER trip, not the RER-to-airport trip. If you have to take a metro to reach the RER, there can be a mile (or more) walk from the metro station to the closest RER station. Metro maps can be very misleading about this: From the map it may look as if the metro station and RER station are in the same location, but this is sometimes not the case.<BR><BR>Unless your hotel is in walking distance of the RER, you may want to consider taking a taxi to the RER station.

Thanks for all these answers. BUT---this is now confusing. Some replies state that the RER drops you right off at terminal B & you just take the esculator up, but Joyce & Jim say that you have to take a shuttle.<BR>So, does anyone know the very latest, up to date information?<BR>Thanks again.

Jon,<BR><BR>Last Saturday my husband and I used RER-B to travel to CDG Terminal 2 from Paris. We got off the train at the CDG 2 stop (this is the last stop on the line). From the train platform to the Terminal 2 check-in area we traveled via escalator, moving sidewalks, and walking. There was no "shuttle" involved. We each had a large suitcase and a carry-on. IHMO, with your small amount of luggage, you should have no problem.
