you've got a tough budget if you leave your free lodging behind.
I would: go to the library and see what interests you. Get a Switzerland book.
If you plan it correctly, you can take a night train out of Geneva... spend a day there, get a hostel for 2 nights, then take the night train back to Geneva. Stay at your friend's for a few more days.
Do you like:
outdoor activities ?
art ?
museums ?
people watching ?
musical performances ?
Travel as lightly as possible. Plan on doing laundry at your friend's (assuming it is free ?). Carry about 4 days worth of clothes.
Look at train schedules and figure out which cities are an overnight from Geneva.

You have $62 per day. this is fine if you stay with your friend for free the whole time and just have to pay for meals, sightseeing and low cost local transportation (that is train within 100 miles or so). You do not have enough money to pay for a cheap hotel - or even a hostel anyplace else. You may have the money to pay for cheap flights - but you will not have a place to stay when you get there, the money to pay for food or the money to enter most major sights.
I would look into some sort of ong-term Swiss train pass and concentrate on seeing what you can in day trips.
