Well I picked mine up at the airport but I never returned it anywhere. Got into an accident near Kilkenny back on Sept 10th and was in the hospital for 11 days. Good thing I got Super CDW. And to think I was worried about curbing the rims leaving Dublin! haha Bad thing, accidents suck. Good thing, my 13 day trip became a 60 day trip lol
And what is DH? Have seen it used quite a bit...

Didn't notice the part about the accident! I'm very sorry but glad you are (I hope!) okay. Care to share your hospital etc experience?
I was once badly injured in a car accident far from home but at least it was in my own country. I imagine things must be much more stressful when you are an ocean away.

I was pretty worried at first. I had spent two nights in Graiguenamanagh and was leaving to go to The Rock of Cashel on Sept 10. I had gone to Inistioge to take a few pictures...didn't actually drive into town...and then continued on towards RoC.
I was stopped and preparing to make a right turn. Check right, let a car pass, check left and it's clear so I take off. I look back to my right and see this big ol' truck coming.
I tried to gun it and get out of his way and he started to brake and swerve into the next lane and he hit me. Luckily he was braking when he hit me (not sure how fast he was going at impact) and I don't think he got a clean hit on me but it was enough to do some damage.
After the car came to a stop, my first though was something like holy crap! I immediately got out of the car on the passenger's side and called mom to let her know what happened. It was about 11am in Ireland so about 3am back in California. My mom didn't seem as worried about the accident as I was lol
Garda came and then so did the paramedics. They took me to St Luke's in Kilkenny where I stayed until the 21st of Sept. I was supposed to fly home on the 18th. The doctors told me that I couldn't fly home for a couple weeks after discharge because they were concerned about blood clots. They gave me a list of 5 B&Bs in Killkenny and I had my mom check them out on TA. She knew exactly where Bridge View B&B was and thought it would be perfect. I ended up staying there with Eimer (owner) for over 40 days and I loved my time there. I wish I could be back there right now!
Anyway, I have typed too much and perhaps you're bored reading this so I'll shut up now

oh yeah and I was in the hospital with 4 broken ribs and a bruised and punctured lung. I had to get an injection in the stomach each morning to help prevent clots. On the day of my return flight, Nov 7th, I got to go into the bathroom stall at the Dublin Airport and give myself the injection. I had actually done it a couple times in the hospital because they wanted me to practice lol The needle was like a half inch long at most so it was nothing really. Just fun to say I had to give myself an injection in the stomach hahaha
Had a great time there and wish I could have stayed longer. Got a great deal on the B&B. I mean it was 1200 Euros which isn't cheap but considering I was there from Sept 21 to Nov 6, that's pretty good!!!

OMG (sorry, only way to say this) civilx!!! How terrible! I hope you are fully recovered. I imagine from all of those days in an Irish B&B you may also need to recover from the huge and delicious breakfasts every day
I'm just now picking up this post - I really do need to get back on this site right after my trip, so my apologies. I'm not sure which was scarier there - driving or being the passenger with my friend driving. We were often too far over to the left as it always seemed like we were going to hit on-coming traffic on some of the very narrow roads.
The trip was well worth the fright though. We wound up cancelling the Hertz plans and went with Dan Dooley. I called them directly and got a better price than was quoted on the website, which was great. It was no hassle, and the man who picked us up at the airport gave us great advice on driving on the "other" side of the road. Luckily, no mishaps, maybe one hubcap scrape and a few brushes with some bushes on the left side of the road.
We took a bus that was just a couple of blocks from our hotel in Dublin that took us straight back to the airport where we got the shuttle to the Dooley lot. Very easy. We then spent our last couple of nights in Ireland in Kilkenny; it was an easy drive from there straight to the Dublin airport to return the car without having to figure out staying in Dublin one more night and getting back to the airport again. Just be careful about going online to pay the tolls.
