rental car suggestions

There are 4 of us planning on doing about 30 days around northern Europe this coming May.
We are versatile on where we fly into but are thinking of Paris. We are looking for suggestions on renting a car returning to same location. We will be doing some of the eastern block countries.
Any suggestions on ideas for a rental car would be appreciated.
Thanks

Some of the rental agencies most recommended here are autoeurope.com, sixt.com, and kemwel.com. Paying in advance saves you money, and if you have to cancel you get a full refund.

I strongly recommend HERTZ; for years now they have adopted a great practice of NO drop-off charges for a number of city/airports pairs. For example, no drop-off charges for pick up in Seville Estacion Santa Justa and drop off in Barajas Madrid. Also, pick in Stockholm Airport drop off in Oslo airport.

Evaluate the economics; drop off fee versus RT to the pick location. Northern Europe is quite an extenive territory to have to close a loop or backtrack.

Well, first you're saying northern europe and then you're saying the Eastern Bloc. Sowe really don;t know what you mean.

Are you talking about Scandinavia? ARe you talking about Cenral Europe(Czech republich, hungary, poland)?

Without more details it'shard to give advice.

Some agencies will limit the cars you can take into certain counries - either to smaller cars, lower cost cars, manual only cars. You will need to check this carefuy - esp if you're going farther east than that.

We almost always use Hertz - but we get very low costs on a corporate discount. And we prefer mid sie cars withpowerful engines (so higher priced) because we like driving - not just riding.

Make sure whatever company you book with allows you to drive in those areas. Some don't

Why fly into Paris if your destination is Poland, Czech Republic etc?
You will have no problems with a hire car from one of those countries for visiting other former Eastern bloc countries. You may well have hiring a car in France.
Plus it is a heck of a long drive, which will be expensive - overnight stays required and petrol is not cheap in Europe!

Ditto het.

It's usually best to return the car in the same country, but also, consider flying into your furthest city and out of the closest (or VV)
