Bob,
We spent 17 days in Ireland this month and used Dan Dooley rent-a-car at Shannon. They were very good, friendly, and quick to please us. The web page is:
http://www.dan-dooley.ie/dooley/links.html
If you need an 1-800 number for the states, I can find it, if the web site doesn't show it. Their New Jersey office is staffed by some very helpful people.
Send me an e-mail if you need more info.
Scott
Our family of 5 went to Norway this summer for 3 weeks, 2 of which were spent in the car. We rented an Audi 4A from EuroCar. The car was much too small for 5. They were very forcefulun saying most Americans liked the car like we were from outer space because we didn't like the car.You have to be midgets to fit 5 in this car! It was fine in the front seat but 4 healthy sized adults and one child were not able to fit. The back kept you with your knees touching your chin when sitting at an angle- not good for 8 hours per day in the car.
I got back Nov. 1st and had no problems with Hertz. Rented a Nissan Micro and it was fine for 2 people and small amount of luggage. At some point in the loose chippings I got a chip in the windshield. They were very prompt & efficient in filling out a report.

Simply, Hertz was the cheapest.Rented a Fiat Punto for two adults, great for parking.Returned it late unknowingly and weren't charged.Next time we'll get a slightly bigger car, only because it will not feel blown about by gusty winds on the main roads.i personally like heavier car, such as a VW.
