How much time have you given Atlas to respond? 1 day? 2 weeks? Makes a difference. What exactly do you mean when stating 'positive availability', although I suspect it's a room you're needing. Assume you've researched and tried to get in touch with places directly and no luck, right?

august is peak time - there are plenty of web sites that allow you to contact the owners directly.

My friend from Bosnia has used www.croatiatravel.com to book flights last time she traveled back home for a visit. I looked at their website, but didn't care for the search function. You can search hotels by location if that is what you are trying to book.

You could also try TravelTime New York. They specialize in Croatia travel, are located in NY, but also have an office in Croatia. The phone number is: 1-800-354-8728. They might be able to help you.

Good luck.

i have contacted MANY many owners direct, and some hotels. obviously to get a few nights at split or hvar is very difficult in august.

it has been over a week for many places to respond,(two weeks for some and waiting..even this travel agency. just want some more options before taking something which really isn't what we had hoped for!)

thank you for the resposnes.
i will try "croatia travel" next.

I was having problems getting a hotel in Podgora to respond so I wrote the Croatian Tourism Boartd in Zagreb - next day I got a response from the hotel. They said they were having internet connection problems. I have found contacting owners is hit or miss - sometimes response is based on the number of days you plan to stay - a week gets a response, staying 2 nights no response. Frustrating, I agree.
