Refund plane ticket

I've never had to do this before. I've bought a plane ticket with Lufthansa for a March flight. I now have to cancel the flight. I know how to do it on-line but what I don't know is:
- will I get a full refund? (it was a special offer)
- are there penalty charges?

I can't find the answer to these questions on their site.

Thanks!

It depends on the terms and conditions when you booked the flight. Did you not print these out or keep a copy of the e-mail which confirmed your booking and tells you if you can get a refund. Usually on special offers and cheapo cattle class flights there is no refund available at all. occasionally there is a partial refund possible.
This is why insurance is a good idea if you are booking cheap tickets.
I think you will have to contact Lufthansa in person to find out, if you can't find your copy of the T&C.

The terms that I have are quite vague and does mention that I might not get a full refund due to the special offer. I'll try calling a reservations office. Thanks

By the way, luckily I have insurance.

OK. Got my answer. With all expenses deducted, I get about half back. Luckily, it was a cheaper flight.

Usually, you can cancel and get a credit for a future flight (travel within a year is the normal terms).

Better than nothing
Maybe you can get the rest from your insurance?

Update:

To change my flight to another date costs 50 Euros.

I called my insurance company. They don't insure "Catholic celebrations" like confirmation. (my son)
