Recommended Book on Paris
Questions are frequently asked on this forum about books on Paris.

I highly recommend "Seven Ages of Paris" by the British historian, Alistair Horne. It is more than a history book. It tells the story of what made Paris what it is. It is replete with humorous anecdotes on the rulers of France/Paris. It is still in hard cover but is the kind of work that could have a permanent place on your bookshelf if you have often travelled to Paris or plan your first trip there.

Anthony

If you are a fan of the Impressionists, then I strongly recommend Guide to Impressionist Paris by Patty Lurie. The book includes nine walking tours of Paris which take you by the sites the Impressionists painted. The book includes many Impressionist paintings side by side with photographs of what the same scenes look like today.
