Recommendations for Riviera overnight
On our way to Provence and Vaison-La-Romaine in May, we have one night to spend somewhere along the Riviera. We are considering Antibes, St Tropez, Bandol, Bormes les Mimosas, Le Lavendou and Cassis. I would also appreciate hotel suggestions in the 100-125 euro range.
Thanks for your help!

First just let me point out that the Riviera IS in Provence. Of the spots you mention, we enjoyed Bormes les Mimosas very much. It's small, charming, and has good views over the countryside to the Mediterranean. We spent 2 nights at Le Mirage, which by now might have the new name of Les Mas des Iles, which ought to be in your price range.

If you would be willing to stay a bit inland rather than right on the coast, you would find more lodgings in your price range. One nice spot is the Bastide de Valbonne in the town of the same name, located between Cannes and Grasse in a very pretty area. I think you would enjoy looking around the town; it's very picturesque.

I really like Hotel Brise Marine, a small privately owned Provincial hotel in St Jean Cap Ferrat. The hotel is located on the coast between Monaco and Nice. St Jean Cap Ferrat is a qaint little harbour village, which is on a peninsular. At night there is a spectacular view of the Riviera coast line. From the hotel you can also see the lights from the fortified village of Eze, which is located on the escarpment above the Riviera. Along the harbour marina, there are numerous restaurants. You can find Hotel Brise Marine on www.hotel-brisemarine.com. A truly memorable experience. If you decide to stay, make sure you make time to visit the village of Eze also.

I would imagine a large part of this decision should depend on how far you want to drive from your previous point & whether you have any particular interest in seeing anything along the way. When in May also makes a big difference. The Cannes film festival is towards the end of the month & the roads between Cannes & St Tropez will be mad. This will also affect hotel prices.
If you're just starting out from the Nice airport & think you will be fresh enough to travel a distance, I'd suggest going past St Tropez. If you don't want to travel that far, the Hotel Castel Garoupe in Antibes has been mentioned by another poster as being a decent, affordable place on the beach. Not sure it's as low as 125 though.

I appreciate the hotel suggestions. This brings me to my next question: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Nice with triple rooms? (I have my 2 adult kids with me until my husband joins us--then we must start paying for 2 rooms everywhere--euro sticker shock!) I would be willing to pay up to 175 euros, only requirement closer to old Nice than to train station. I wondered about Les Cigales, it gets good reviews on Trip Advisor. Also, Villa Victoria. Thanks!

May I ask an itinerary question? We are going to Riviera for 9 days in March. We currently are planning on staying in Nice (Hotel Gounod) for a 3 nights and Vence (L'Auberge des Seigneurs) for 2 nights. We were hoping to add a third location for a different experience, but I can't decide where. I was thinking St. Tropez. Looking for hotels in the 80-125 Euro range as well. Any ideas? Thank you!
