Recent Sky Europe experience??
Hello all. I'm considering buying cheap flights into Dubrovnik from Vienna, but not sure if this airline has a good reputation. Has anyone used them recently and if so, what has been your experience? Would you recommend or advise against? Thank you!

I use SkyEurope a fair amount from Rome to Prague and I consider it a very reliable airline. Unlike Ryan Air or easy Jet, they usually fly into major airports (not secondary airports which can often be far away from your destination).

I would look to a airline forum like skytrax for reviews.
www.airlinequaliy.com
Sky Europe has severe financial problems.
While previously a good discount service, they have had numerous aircraft re possessed by lessors. Their services are severely restricted and they continue to lose money and see a huge drop in passengers.
Passengers who have experienced cancelled flights apparently have great trouble getting refunds.
I see some of their flights listed on the Vienna Airport info boards- flights often seem to experience significant delays or cancellations.
I a willing to pay a little more and feel more secure that my flight actually travels, especially when travelling on business with a fixed schedule.

I have been using this Skyeurope airline since over 2 years. It is an excellent one. I have flown on 8 flights this year, it was super.
Planes are very well maintained, crew is above expectations. Good variety of food options, good quality, regular to low prices. Punctuality above average. In any case not worse at all, than most airlines.
I had read the rumors of financial trouble since 2 year. My view is that it is all competiion communications. All airlines are experiencing problems. The service provided has not suffered at all. If it had, I would know, for sure.
I was sceptical in the beginning and opted to go with them. If I had been deterred I would have lost money in fares, and possibly the good service povided.

Thank you all. This is very informative. I am a little apprehensive as I experienced a similar scenario with Tiger airways last year. Airline stopped flying the route unexpectedly and we had to scramble for another flight to HKG.

Forget about sky europe. Waited for 5 hours in the boarding area of Athens airport for a flight to Vienna. First a delay of 1 hour, than 1.5 hours, then 2 hours, etc.. etc.. Finally after more than 5 hours waiting, it finally arrived.
Was very happy to see the plane turning up. Only disappointed to listen to lies from the pilot as for the real reason of the delay. Not even a proper appology. No free drink for the delay. Disgusting.
Never again. I am sure they will get bust not before long.

We flew Skyeurope 5 years ago and were happy and booked them again this Spring before doing any research. They are not doing well finacially and have filed for bankruptcy. See this thread in an airline forum:

I would steer clear unless you really want an adventure.

i just came back from my vacations in lisbon.
i've booked a flight from Athens to Prague and then from Prague to Lisbon with return on Prague.
Arrived at athens airport the flight had 11 hours of delay,(showing 03.30 in the next morning, from 16.40 that was the originary departure time) but they didn't advise us before.
This way i was loosing the next flight to lisbon. After verbaly fighting in the check in counters (initialy they respond that for any problem i had to call to the sky europe call center from my cell phone. This one due to the translocation of flights from vienna to bratislava and the calls from all over europe, was always busy and i couldn't take the line), finelly they called internally and they change me the flight via bratislava (initialy there was no such flight, but due to the traslocation of flights from vienna to bratislava the flight from vienna had a 4 hours delay and that way i could make it to catch that plane in bratislava airport).
The flight from Athens to bratislava, had also a 3 hours delay (i waited 50 minutes inside the plane with no aircondition and no explanation) but finally i made did it to arrive on time to Bratislava, because also that plane was on 2 more hours on retard (initialy 22.30 from Vienna, programmed 01.00 from bratislava and finally departed at 02.45).
The stress that i passed it was very high as if i had lost one of the flights i had lost, also the hotel reservations in lisbon and 2 days of vacation (the next flight from prague to lisbon was 2 days after).
At the airport of athens they denied me to give food or drinks initialy when they changed me the flight to bratislava.
The worse was in bratislava airport when there was (between other people) a mother with her child under 1 year old. Her flight to amsterdam was cancelled and the next was 12 hours after (next morning). The lady at the desk office of Sky Europe denied her a hotel saying that sky europe is one step before bankrupt and can't pay hotals in this occations. She said also that she was also working at that time without beeing payed.
The return from lisbon to prague had also a 2 hours delay. We waited 40 minutes inside the plane for the documents of the flight. Finally a controller arrived checked all the papers of the flight and remained inside the cockpit for the flight (checking for possible problems i suppose).
Finally all the vacation passed with the stress of arriving and the unknown way of returning
as i couldn't know what will happend
My advise
ont use this company even if they give you flights for free. (As i will do this for the future).

What time frame do you live in logos? It's Sep 1 here in the real world. This news is of no interest to me personally but it might affect some people here and their travel arrangements, which is why I posted it.
While you're at it, what's the weather in Austria going to be like in 2 weeks please? I need to know.
