Hi lyceemoliere,

At this late date, you best bet will be to use www.venere.com to see what you can find. Peak season, 2 rooms, "reasonable". On the web site you can sort by price. Pay attention to location, if you are too far out, it's not worth the savings.

If you would like people to give specific recs - assign an exact euro value to "reasonable".

Many people will also recommend trying an apartment. Easier for a family of 5. Some will do 2 nights.

Buon viaggio!

At 100 Euros max, you need a hostel. Check www.hostelworld.com .

You can probably get a room for five, but even so that will probably cost more than 100 Euros.

You don;t mention the make-up of your group - but many hostels don;t allow children (under 16's). Also - they're more like 30 euros per bed per night in a dorm room.

You might consider lookng at convents - to get around the child issue - assuming you're a family with kids - but that will be more money.

Finding lodging for 5 for 100 euros a night in Rome doesn;t seem realistic - esp at this late date.

venere.com does list some hotels in/near (but not very near) Rome for random dates in July for 5 people. Prices are higher than you want - but some not terribly more - and many have shared baths - but at least it's a place to start looking.

I have no idea how good/bad these places are - and you would have to be in touch with them about sleeping arrangements (they may be assuming a couple of small kids in cots).

Try B&Bs on Venere. We got a fabulous one last year for 100 Euro per night [for 2]. When we extended the stay for a night it cost us only 90 because directly booked.

You could consider getting a bungalow outside of Rome. Apparently you are within striking distance price-wise:

There are other campsite options as well.

For only two nights I think may want to bite the bullet and spend a bit more to stay centrally located as you don't want to spend precious time commuting in and out of Rome.
