Hello All:
I want to plan a nice vacation for my 40th birthday this coming April. Looking for good weather, outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, biking, etc.) and decidely non-american culture.
Any ideas???

Queens Day in Amsterdam, usually April 30 unless that's a Sunday i think, is one of Europe's biggest parties and flea markets - anyone can sell anything on sidewalks - bands all over - not just a party but a fun citywide festive atmosphere. check out the Flower Fields and Keukenhof Gardens which should be abllom at the same time. www.keukenhof.nl

Since you said good weather on the European board, I would suggest Spain or Italy. I took a bicycle tour of Barcelona for about four hours. As for swimming in April, Germany has many swimming pools.
How about Iceland. They have warm outdoor swimming pools everywhere heated to 97 degrees. I felt a little ice on my hair and on the steps going up the slide when I was there in March two years ago. The problem here would be the wind. I hate riding a bicycle when it is windy. Icelandair flies from Orlando, Baltimore, Boston, Minneapolis, New York and San Francisco to KEF.
