Ravello concerts in July

Help! We'll be on the Amalfi coast for three weeks in July and were hoping to attend concerts at the Villa Rufolo in Ravello, which is supposedly the height of the season...Every link I've found shows nightly concerts in May, June, August, and September, and NONE in July! I wrote to the Ravello Concert Society begging for information, and they (nicely) sent a paper brochure version of the website info--with nothing listed for July! Anybody been who can clarify this missing month? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for trying, but that's what I've found too, and it's unfortunately just the problem. The only two concerts listed for July are not IN Ravello, but in Conca di Marina, in a church, rather than on the spectacular terrace where the other summer ones are!

I'm guessing that something's going on (such as maintenance of the Villa Rufolo), which precludes the scheduling of concerts during July. Give a call to the tourist board in Ravello or to your hotel there.

I don't really know but they don't have any in August, either, on the schedule I saw -- nor will they next year, either, in July or August. Maybe it's just a change in procedures by the Ravello Festival and they want those months off; most cities close down performing arts sometime in July for the rest of the summer (ballet, opera, etc), but I thought that was a typical festival month at Ravello.

Well, I am a classical music aficionado who likes music festivals and I've attended piano master classes in Paris a couple times -- coincidentally, I'm looking for a new program and found one on the Amalfi Coast organized by some folks from some local universities(Catholic U. in Wash DC, they have a decent music dept, with Peabody in Baltimore) which I'm inquiring about. This organization has done these summer music programs there before at least several years, so I have asked them if they know what's going on this year at Villa Rufolo in July (next year also BTW). If they respond, I'll let you know.

IN any case, bottom line is there aren't any, it appears.
Christina,
Thanks! It sounds like you've had the same frustration I've had, and you might be right about a new "time-out" plan. I would love it if you would post any other music events you discover in Amalfi in July, and I'll do the same.

I finally heard back from the music program I had inquired about. I think you misunderstood me, I'm not going there this summer, I was looking for piano master classes in Europe for next year.

In any case, I have finally heard back from the director of the Amalfi Coast Music Festival, which is the one I'm considering -- he claims that there will be concerts at Villa Rufolo in July this year but that they are just disorganized and haven't gotten the schedule out yet, but he insists there will be. He attributed it to disorganization and Italian politics that the program hasn't been published yet, but that it should be coming out "one of these days." He said he would email it to me when he gets it (if he can remember). I will post it on here if he does.
Ciao....
